Discover the only established route to the summit of Mount Meru — the Momella Route, a 3- or 4-day trek through the wild heart of Arusha National Park. Starting at Momella Gate (1,500 m), you’ll hike through open grasslands and montane rainforest, passing wildlife like giraffes, buffalo and monkeys, as your climb gently ascends to Miriakamba Hut (2,514 m). The second day takes you higher via Elephant Ridge to Saddle Hut (3,570 m), with a side-hike to Little Meru (3,820 m) for panoramic views. On summit day, you depart in the early hours, pushing for Rhino Point (3,850 m) before reaching Socialist Peak (4,566 m) at sunrise — rewarded with dramatic views of Meru’s crater and neighboring Kilimanjaro. The descent retraces the route back to Miriakamba and down to Momella Gate. Trekking with Kili Trips means you’ll hike with a licensed guide, cook, porters—and even a ranger for your safety. This route is perfect both as a standalone wilderness adventure and as an acclimatization climb before heading up Kilimanjaro.
